Reign Over Me

Last Saturday night we saw Reign Over Me. We had seen the commercials on TV and were very interested in seeing it. I’ve always like Don Cheadle and I like it when comedians switch over to serious dramatic roles.

Quite a movie. We both feel it is one of the better one’s we’ve seen in a while. The cinematography, the acting, the story. We both liked how they shot the city. It was about living in the city and not the tourist take on it. Cheadle, Sandler, Picket-Smith, and Tyler were all quite good in our opinion with Sandler giving quite a performance compared to his previous lighter fare. We both shed tears at a couple points during the movie. And I liked the journey that the story took. Putting a human face on trauma from a personal tragedy.

We recommend it and I’m interested what your honest take on it is.

  1. I’m so glad you liked this movie because I want to see it and am trying to convince hubby. Did you see Adam Sandler sit in for David Letterman? I believe it was last week. Don Cheadle was on and he and Adam sang a duet. Check out the Late Show section of cbs.com — they have a video of Adam’s monologue and the duet. http://www.cbs.com/latenight/lateshow/dave_tv/highlights/index/php/bigshowhighlight.phtml

  2. Thanks, cathy. That was good.

We’re big fans of “Happy Gilmore”, so you may want to take that into consideration when thinking of our review.

  3. Putting a human face on trama from a personal tragedy

I know absolutely nothing about this movie. Did you mean “drama” or “trauma”?

  4. It’s a drama about trauma.

I need to spell check more often. I’ve corrected it.
